Jon Dahl Tomasson was delighted with the 'calm' nature of Blackburn Rovers' performance after going behind against Wrexham.

Rovers came from a goal down to beat the League Two side 4-1 and reach the fifth round of the FA Cup. They started the game quite brightly but missed early opportunities and fell behind to Andy Cannon's opener.

Wrexham had a 10-minute spell of dominance but soon after, normal service resumed and Rovers turned the game around in 13 minutes. Goals from Sam Szmodics (2) and Sam Gallagher meant they went in 3-1 ahead at half time.

From then, they controlled the game and Sondre Tronstad's first for the club ensured a safe passage to the next round.

"It was a good performance, when you play in the FA Cup it's about winning," Tomasson said.

"When you play a game like this, it can be dangerous. Wrexham brought 7,000 fans on a Monday night, they had a great run last year, beating Coventry and almost beat Sheffield United.

"I thought we started the game brightly and could have been 2-0 up after four minutes. Then we had a third chance and that could've been our third.

"We conceded after the goal which was a mistake but the team stayed calm. The fans stayed calm and we dominated the game. Three really good goals.

"We spoke about more runs in-behind in the second half. We scored another good goal and we could have scored more.

"Of course, we are pleased to be through to the next round after a good performance. I am pleased to see Sammie scoring more goals!

"He's the top-scorer in the Championship and the FA Cup! It was good to see Sam Gallagher back scoring, he was out for nearly four months almost.

"I gave Tyrhys Dolan his stat for two months, the same for Joe Rankin-Costello, his first start for three months. This is all extremely positive, a good goal and an assist for Sonny."

Newcastle will travel to Ewood Park for a place in the last 16. They are, of course, one of Tomasson's former clubs from his playing days.

After making memories with away trips at West Ham, Leicester City and Sheffield United last season, Tomasson is particularly pleased to welcome a Premier League side to Rovers' home.

"I am pleased our fans can have a big game at home. Now we can play at Ewood Park which is great. We've played lots of games where we have had good moments in the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup this season.

"Now we're at home to a Premier League side rather than away from home. Playing at home, this season and last season we've beaten the lower-ranked teams and giant killers away.

"Now we get to play it at home and we hope for a good game to entertain our fans against a very good Premier League side. I am really looking forward to that game and, hopefully, we can get a lot of fans to the stadium."
