Jon Dahl Tomasson admitted Blackburn Rovers didn't create enough clear-cut opportunities to beat Huddersfield Town.

Rovers' run of poor form extended to one win in 10 Championship matches after they were held at Ewood Park. Despite having most of the possession, it was the visitors who had the best chances.

Jack Rudoni missed a golden opportunity before half-time whilst Aynsley Pears was sharp off his line to deny Bojan Radulovic. David Kasumu also dragged a shot wide after running clear of the defence.

Aside from Adam Wharton's opener, Rovers didn't test Lee Nicholls, by contrast. Their good approach play was missing the final pass, which was also the view of Tomasson.

"We are disappointed not to win the game, Huddersfield came with a very clear plan," he said.

"They came to sit back, rely on set-pieces and transition moments. We know that when a team sits back, it can be difficult to play through with a lot of bodies between the goal.

"I thought we started brightly and then when Hayden Carter got injured, it killed the momentum a bit and then we played too slow.

"We conceded a goal we shouldn't have conceded but credit to Huddersfield and Helik, he's scored a lot from set-pieces this season.

"The second half, I think we dominated totally. We did a lot of good things until we got around the box. We have been really great during the season at creating chances but if you look at the possession we had, we didn't create enough.

"We lacked runs and we were lacking quick play instead of taking too many touches around the box. In the end, credit to the lads and the fans for sticking together after all the setbacks during the game.

"I was disappointed we lost the momentum after losing Hayden (Carter). They played too slow and when we conceded, Huddersfield were really good at defending.

"They had a lot of players behind the ball, you have to make the right decisions and we were lacking runs. You also need a bit of luck when the ball comes across the line but it doesn't hit the right colour and goes out.

"When you can't win it, don't lose it. It's important not to lose the game."

Hayden Carter and Harry Pickering were both forced off with worrying injuries. Carter went down in the first half whilst Pickering pulled his hamstring in the second.

Tomasson is already light in defence after James Hill was recalled and would like two defensive additions to bolster his options. The pair will go for scans to determine the severity of the situation.

"I don't know what they have done. I can't say anything yet," Tomasson said.

"They knew, for sure. They will go for a scan before we can give a clear idea of what they have done.

"I have said in the summer what we needed, we know the club is in a difficult situation. The players are frustrated about it, I am, the fans are but it's important to stick together to help the players and the club."
