Jon Dahl Tomasson says Jake Batty could head out on loan to get minutes under his belt following Ben Chrisene’s arrival.

19-year-old Chrisene has joined on loan from Premier League Aston Villa for the remainder of the campaign.

Batty has made just one first-team appearance this season, starting the 4-3 win against Walsall in the Carabao Cup in August.

When asked if a loan move could be on the cards for the youngster, Tomasson replied: “That could potentially happen. He needs to play minutes.”

Chrisene was not involved in the 5-2 win against Cambridge at the weekend, but the Rovers boss was planning to give him some minutes in an internal game on Sunday.

“He was not ready to be involved, he will be involved in an internal game,” he explained.

“Left-back is one of the areas where we have no cover and it is an opportunity to help the team in that position.

“He will be getting his first minutes in the internal game, probably 30 or 45 minutes. He can play in midfield, he can play left-back and has physicality as well.”

Rovers went behind twice during the first half but proved to have too much quality for their League One opponents after the break.

“I think our fans were great, they helped the team in those moments,” said Tomasson. “All the credit to the team as well, to show character which the young boys did.

“The more senior players took responsibility, that is the togetherness within the squad. Sammie scored a couple of excellent goals.

“The second half was brilliant, we scored five goals and it could have been 10!

"In football, that is a lot and it means the players are creating chances. We played most of the second half in the opponents’ half.”
