Jon Dahl Tomasson admits unproven, young players will make mistakes after a series of errors from goalkeeper Leopold Wahlstedt.
The Blackburn Rovers shot-stopper has been culpable in the last four Championship matches, costing his side goals. The 24-year-old has particularly struggled with balls into the box since taking the gloves from Aynsley Pears.
Wahlstedt appeared to be making progress on that front after more solid displays at the start of the month but that frailty has been badly exposed over Christmas. Goals against Southampton, Watford and Rotherham United have all come from balls into the box where the goalkeeper hasn't covered himself in glory.
Errors have crept into other parts of his game too. He has proven to be a reliable shot-stopper but allowed Jahiem Headley's tame strike to squirm under him on Boxing Day. This series of mistakes has created uncertainty at the back and unrest with the supporters.

When asked about the performance of his goalkeeper, and how he can be helped, Tomasson admitted that the schedule and inexperience of the group, including Wahlstedt, means mistakes are more common.
"When you are young, which he is, it's normal that you will not play a perfect game every week, every third day," he said.
"First of all, not just talking about Leo Wahlstedt, the amount of games and the intensity of the games, some of the players are trying this great schedule for the first time. Then it's difficult to cope.
"If you are younger, you'll make more mistakes than a player that has played league football for years. That's about experience, not just age.
"It's about the experience of league football, Championship football. You have a tough schedule and a lot of fixtures in a short while. The combination of that, you're learning on the job.
"There is nothing wrong with that but that's the situation."
