Farke refutes Tomasson claim and gives Blackburn verdict

Rovers were beaten 2-0 at Ewood Park in a game that was closely contested but defined inside the 18-yard boxes. Leeds took both of their big opportunities whilst Blackburn had good territory but failed to work Illan Meslier.

Tomasson was happy with the performance, especially against a 'Premier League side' in Leeds, who he backed for automatic promotion. Farke was keen to credit his opposite number too but dismissed the claim that they are already on course to be a top-flight side again next season despite their impressive form.

"I think for us it's a massive away win," said Farke. "I was really respectful, such a good possession side, they always play with bravery, courage, lots of rotations and cause many problems. I'm delighted.

"I expected a tight game, it was a hard-fought win but due to the chances a deserved win. I'm especially pleased we're allowed to travel back with a clean sheet. In terms of big chances for them, there was not too much. It was important after always conceding a goal or two for a few weeks to return to rock-solid defensive behaviour. I'm pretty delighted."

"If you have a great overall performance then you can also speak about individual quality," he added. "We had some of these players last season and they were not praised for Premier League quality and they were criticised quite hard. 

"It's always the same, when the team shines you can also shine as an individual, it will never be the other way around. You have to put a team effort in and if you're doing this and maybe the compliments from the opponent are a bit exaggerated and a bit too much - I would label us far away from being on Premier League level already. 

"We have to work hard to earn this headline one day but at the moment we're putting in some really, really good performances and then individuals can shine and hopefully we can keep going."
