Blackburn Rovers will welcome Arnor Sigurdsson and Niall Ennis back from injury against Leeds United with Lewis Travis also back from suspension.

Jon Dahl Tomasson has more options available for his matchday squad this week after being left with an inexperienced bench at Hillsborough last weekend. Of the nine players in reserve, five of them hadn't made a league appearance.

After three weeks out with a hamstring problem, the striker has been training this week and will be involved in the matchday squad on Saturday.

Sigurdsson is back too, having missed last weekend's 3-1 defeat with a minor groin problem.  It means Tomasson will have a much healthier bench against the automatic promotion chasers.

"We have some extremely positive news," Tomasson said. "Arnor Sigurdsson is back, he had a little problem with his groin the other day.

"Niall is back as well but we are still missing a lot of players. They are getting back on the grass, slowly but slowly. Not all of them but some of them are making progress.

"We had a very young bench last weekend but a lot of talent and players with a lot of potential. They had a good experience which will be good for them.

"It's important for them to see the pre-match meetings, post-match meetings. Travelling to the game, being involved with us, seeing the game plans. It's good for them to be a part of it and be within the stadium with a lot of people.

"They're all small things which they need to become better and what it's like to be a professional football player."

Of the long-term absentees, Dom Hyam and Aynsley Pears have made positive strides in their recovery. The defender is back running after an ankle issue whilst Pears is also out in light training after breaking two of his metatarsal.

Sam Gallagher has been troubled with a calf problem but will, hopefully, be back at the end of December too. It means that only Joe Rankin-Costello, Ryan Hedges and Tyrhys Dolan are on the long-term absentee list with targeted comebacks in 2024.

"They are starting to come back on the grass, slowly but slowly," he explained. "Pears was out a little bit this week which is nice, he's still a couple of weeks away.

"Dom Hyam is back out on the grass which is extremely positive, we all know how important Dom is for Rovers. Those two are a start. Sam Gallagher is still a couple of weeks away.

"Ryan Hedges, Joe Rankin-Costello and Tyhrys Dolan are still a long time away and will be back next year."
