Jon Dahl Tomasson will have to watch from the stands against Leeds United this weekend after the Rovers boss was hit with a one-match touchline ban.
Tomasson was shown a red card during the 3-1 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough over the weekend.
The Rovers boss was unhappy with the Owls’ second goal, with Callum Paterson appearing to hold James Hill in the penalty area as he attempted to close down Marvin Johnson’s shot.
Tomasson was initially booked for his protests but was then shown a straight red card minutes later, meaning he could not carry out his post-match media obligations due to new EFL rules this season.
The FA confirmed in a statement via its official spokesperson account that Tomasson had accepted the standard penalty for a misconduct charge.
It read: “A one-match touchline ban and £2,000 fine have been imposed on the Blackburn Rovers manager, Jon Dahl Tomasson, for misconduct at their game against Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Championship on Saturday, December 2.
“Tomasson admitted that he acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards a match official in the 79th and 80th minutes, which led to his dismissal, and he also accepted the standard penalty.”
