Jon Dahl Tomasson and Sam Szmodics have been nominated for the November SkyBet Manager and Player of the Month awards.

Blackburn Rovers enjoyed a productive month, taking nine points from a possible 12 with victories over Norwich, Stoke and Birmingham City. The only blot on the copybook was a 2-1 defeat to Preston North End just before the international break.

That form has seen Tomasson recognised alongside three other head coaches for the monthly award. Southampton's Russell Martin, Leeds United's Daniel Farke and West Brom's Carlos Corberan are his competition, all having taken 10 points.

Considering the injuries that Rovers have suffered from and the lack of depth to the squad, Tomasson is rightly being highlighted as one of the Championship's best-performing managers right now.

Unsurprisingly, Szmodics' form has also seen him nominated as Player of the Month. The forward has scored 14 Championship goals this season, the most in the division by two.

Six of those came last month, with a brace against Norwich and Birmingham and solitary strikes at Stoke and at home to Preston North End.

Southampton striker, and former Rovers man, Adam Armstrong is up for the award after scoring five goals. He currently trails Szmodics by two in the top-scorer ranks.

Hull City star Jaden Philogene is also up alongside Huddersfield Town defender Michal Heilik. After such a fantastic month, you'd anticipate Szmodics will be the favourite for the award.

Whilst Tomasson had a great month with Rovers, he's probably an outsider considering the points totals the other three clubs accumulated. West Brom's great month probably makes Corberan the likely winner.

The winners will be announced at 6am on Friday, December 8. The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, EFL Chief Executive Trevor Birch and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
