Jon Dahl Tomasson could serve a one-match touchline ban against Leeds United after being sent off against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Blackburn Rovers head coach has not yet been publicly charged by The Football Association after he was shown red against the Owls at the weekend. Tomasson was unhappy with Sheffield Wednesday's decisive second goal.

Marvin Johnson put the hosts 2-1 ahead in the 78th minute but Rovers were unhappy with a foul in the build-up. Replays show Callum Paterson holding James Hill in the penalty area as he attempted to close down Johnson's shot. Rovers went on to lose the game 3-1, with a late goal from Josh Windass sealing the points.

Tomasson was initially booked for his remonstrations but was then shown a straight red card minutes later. That meant the Rovers head coach was unable to speak to the media, both in-house and external, at the full-time whistle.

It's understood the Rovers head coach was booked for an emotional response to the second goal being awarded but it's unclear exactly why he was then dismissed a few minutes later. 

Referee David Webb appeared to show Tomasson a straight red card, rather than two bookings, which would trigger an automatic one-game ban, if he's found guilty of The FA's inevitable charge.

However, if he had been shown two yellow cards, it's likely he would've avoided a ban and instead received a fine. That was the case for West Brom manager Carlos Corberan, who was dismissed at Ewood Park on the opening day of the season.

The Baggies man was booked for protesting what he felt was an Albion penalty and the second was shown for leaving his technical area. He accepted the charge and subsequently avoided a ban.

According to FA rules, if Tomasson is banned, it means he can only communicate to his bench via a mobile or a 'runner'. He won't be allowed on the touchline at any stage, including during the warm-ups.

Tomasson will be allowed in the dressing room and therefore he can speak with his players before and after. The only actual disruption will come in the form of him watching from the stands, with assistant Remi Reynierse and Ben Benson likely to deliver the direct instructions to the players.

Kick-off at Ewood Park is 12:30pm due to police advice. The Whites are expected to sell out their allocation of over 7,000 away tickets, making it one of the biggest attendances of the season.
