Jon Dahl Tomasson was delighted with Blackburn Rovers' defensive performance as they beat Stoke City 3-0.
It was a fourth successive away league win for Rovers as they showed a clinical side to their game in the final five minutes to make sure of the points. Blackburn made a quick start and after missing an early chance, went ahead when Scott Wharton headed in Andrew Moran's corner.
They had to defend for large portions after that. Stoke had most of the ball but created very few clear-cut opportunities. Leopold Wahlstedt had very little to do, particularly in the second half, despite the host dominating territory.
Rovers stood firm and then sealed the points through Moran, turning in a spilled save from Jack Bontham, and then Sam Szmodics, who added his 11th of the season.

Tomasson was full of praise for the attitude and concentration levels of his side in their defensive third. Stoke hadn't conceded either in their last four games but Rovers came away with three points.
"It was a brilliant performance and a brilliant result," Tomasson said. "We know Stoke have been on a good run, not conceding in the last four games.
"It was a tough game but the way we started was very positive. We created chances for Sammie immediately and we could have been 2-0 up after four minutes.
"We scored an excellent set-piece but then we started giving away a lot of unnecessary balls, running with it too much. That's a different part of football, we know how good we can play with the ball.
"I thought the discipline and defending was extremely good. I am very pleased with the defending part and the attitude. Away at Stoke, they did not create a lot and we deserved the clean sheet.
"Our fans, almost 2,000, will be extremely pleased with that as well I think."
The match statistics show Rovers had only 35 per cent of the ball, the lowest amount they've had in victory. But they were still very good value for the three points, showing a different side of their game with a mature performance.
In their four successive away wins, they have only conceded twice, keeping two clean sheets. With Wahlstedt having little to do, it was another mature defensive display.
"I thought the boys did brilliant, they defended with great spirit, a great attitude and with a high level of discipline, which you need in football to keep a clean sheet," he added.
"For 90 minutes and extra time, it was very pleasing to see that. We frustrated Stoke during the second half but they couldn't create a chance.
"They came into the final third but then the stop sign was there because the players were aggressive. We locked on players and defended like warriors. It was great to see."
