Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.
Leopold Walhstedt - 6
Couldn't do much about Browne's excellent strike into the roof of the net. Dealt with everything else with conviction.
Lewis Travis - 8
A really good performance from the captain. There were a few pre-match nerves about how he would cope out of position but he did really well against Millar. Was slightly caught out by Browne's run for the goal but should've been covered by his team-mates.
James Hill - 7
Handled the physical threat of Osmajic apart from one instance in the first half. Front-footed and proactive defender.
Scott Wharton - 8
Won his share of headers and gave the Preston strikers very little change. Solid performance.
Callum Brittain - 7
Switched to left-back in the absence of Pickering. No real issues.
Sondre Tronstad - 7
Won plenty of second balls and made Rovers competitive in the centre of the park.
Adam Wharton - 7
Started the game brightly with a few lovely touches. Faded as the game wore on.
Sam Szmodics - 7
Took his goal really well with a calm finish past Woodman. That's now 10 for the season and he could've had another too.
Arnor Sigurdsson - 6
Didn't look as comfortable on the right side but offered more than in recent games. Should've scored with his volley that hit the bar.
Andrew Moran - 7
Very quiet in the first half but came into the game after the break. Lovely assist for Szmodics with a floated pass over the defence.
Tyrhys Dolan - 7
Worked hard against three Preston defenders but probably not the best game for him as a false nine. Lovely little cross to set up Sigurdsson when pulled wide.

Came on and held the ball up.
Dilan Markanday (Sigurdsson, 77') - N/A
