Here's The Lancashire Telegraph's best guess on how Rovers might line-up against Preston North End in the Championship.

Goalkeeper

Leopold Wahlstedt will once again be in goal for Rovers. The Swedish shot-stopper will get his first taste of a Lancashire derby.

Defence

Tomasson will be delighted to have Scott Wharton available after his red card against Norwich City was overturned. He'll keep his place alongside James Hill in defence.

Callum Brittain will drop into right-back in light of Joe Rankin-Costello's hamstring injury. Harry Pickering can stay at left-back having played as an emergency centre-bakc at Norwich when Wharton was sent off.

Hayden Carter should be back after the international break whilst Dom Hyam remains out with an ankle injury.

Midfield

In midfield, there is no need for change. Captain Lewis Travis is knocking ont he door but the midfield trio of Sondre Tronstad, Adam Wharton and Sam Szmodics offered a nice blend against the Canaries.

Wharton played with more freedom, knowing he had a holding midfield behind him to mop up. His quality on the ball will be important in a tight battle in the centre of the park.

Attack

In attack, the question is who replaces Rankin-Costello. Andrew Moran will be on one side after his two assists at Norwich.

Tyrhys Dolan has done well as a false nine but does Tomasson go for Harry Leonard against three centre-backs and shift Dolan wide? Alternatively, Arnor Sigurdsson or Dilan Markanday could come into the side out wide.

I think Sigurdsson might get the nod. Dolan has done well down the middle and the Icelandic forward has the necessary quality to win a tight game, albeit he hasn't been in the best of form since the last international break.

Blackburn Rovers (4-3-3): Wahlstedt; Brittain, Hill, S.Wharton, Pickering; Tronstad, A.Wharton, Szmodics; Moran, Sigurdsson, Dolan.
