Jon Dahl Tomasson was delighted with Blackburn Rovers' first 50 minutes against Norwich City and felt the decision to send off Scott Wharton was 'soft'.

Goals from Tyrhys Dolan and Sam Szmodics put Rovers in control at Carrow Road with a quickfire double inside 15 minutes. That set the tone with the home fans turning on their players after another dismal start.

Blackburn continued to play great football and could've added to their lead further before the break. They eventually did take full advantage and were 3-0 up on 50 minutes when Szmodics added his second.

However, it wasn't the easy finish Rovers had hoped for when Wharton was sent off. He challenged for the ball with Onel Hernandez and was judged to have brought down the player, who would have been through on goal.

Tomasson was delighted with his team's performance but felt Wharton shouldn't have been sent off. Rovers will assess the footage before deciding whether to appeal the decision.

"I am delighted with the win, I thought the performance was great," Tomasson said. "I thought some of the football we played was on a very high level.

"I know they're in a difficult place at the minute but they're still a good side and have very good players. We were on the front foot immediately and made it very difficult for them.

"We created chances, scored great goals and we could have been leading 4-0 at half-time. We scored immediately in the second half, a well-worked goal.

"We were in control and then we got the red card but we defended like lions, defending the box, a great team spirit. It's a third away win in a short space of time in the league so that's very positive for this team.

"It was very good when you can defend like that against a very good team. In the last six games in the league, we have conceded four goals so we defended as a unit. We are playing some great stuff on the ball."

"I only saw it from behind and from my angle, he got the ball," Tomasson added on the Wharton dismissal. "I thought he touched the ball.

"I think it's a little bit soft. I thought England was the only country in the world that wasn't becoming soft! Let's wait and see what we'll do.

"We have plenty of time to talk about it on the coach back to Blackburn and see if we'll appeal it.

"Scott came in from the bench against Chelsea, we wanted to take care of him and he did well. It was his first start in a while in the league against Swansea. Disappointing for him but he was very happy for his team-mates after the game."
