Blackburn Rovers had a summer of changes as seven players left the club and seven more came into the building.

Gregg Broughton and the recruitment team were busy as they looked so supplement Jon Dahl Tomasson's squad in the transfer market. Some of the departures were expected, others forced the club to think on their feet.

Six weeks have passed since the transfer window officially closed, with players bedding into their new clubs. So how have the seven players that left Rovers fared in new surroundings? Let's find out.

Ben Brereton Diaz

Blackburn Rovers' most high-profile departure was, of course, Brereton Diaz. His contract was running down and everyone knew he was set to join Villarreal.

Most Rovers fans have watched on with intrigue as to how the Chilean forward would cope in new surroundings, having taken time to warm up to life at Ewood Park. He hasn't hit the ground running yet.

Brereton Diaz has only started twice in La Liga, coming off the bench on five occasions. In total he's played just over 200 minutes, averaging out at about 30 minutes per matchday. In the Europa League, he's featured once, playing an hour.

He is yet to register a goal or an assist for his new club. The team have been struggling too, winning two of their nine league games and sitting 16th in the table.

Bradley Dack

Things haven't really got going for Dack either at Sunderland. The fans' favourite was released by Rovers in the summer with his contract expiring.

It was little surprise to see him reunite with Tony Mowbray at Sunderland. He said in his introductory interview he had a point to prove but injuries have been an issue.

Dack's played in four of 11 Championship games, starting each one. He has a goal and an assist to his name and impressed in the win over Southampton.

But a hamstring issue kept him out of a return to Ewood Park and has been a problem since. He'll hope to be available again after the international break.

Thomas Kaminski

The Belgian international has been a busy boy at Kenilworth Road. The good news is he's starting every week as a Premier League number one, which is great for him personally.

Luton Town haven't made the best of starts to life with the elite. The Hatters have four points from their first eight games, conceding 15 times.

Kaminski has been a positive though, pulling off some impressive saves and earning praise for his performances. The early signs do suggest he could be back in the Championship next year, though.

Daniel Ayala

Perhaps the strangest of them all. Ayala still hasn't signed for anyone after leaving Rovers.

The defender was released at the end of his deal and whilst he is getting on and his injury record isn't the best, nobody expected him to be without a club.

Ayala has interested Championship clubs, with Rotherham United looking at him earlier in September. That interest has ended and he is now training with League One club Bristol Rovers in a bid to earn himself a contract.

Ash Phillips

The talented defender has made a positive impression at Tottenham Hotspur. He has impressed coaches already with Ange Postecoglou said to have been pleasantly surprised by his levels.

Phillips has played in the EFL Trophy for Spurs and in the Under-21s. He has been around the matchday squad too and even on the bench in the Premier League.

He's still awaiting his debut for the first team and is currently away with the England Under-19 squad. It's early days but it seems he is actually being used and developed at Spurs, rather than struggling to kick on.

Tayo Edun

The most obvious summer exit was Edun. He was frozen out by Tomasson and told he could leave the club, paving the way for him to join Charlton Athletic.

The defender has played five times for the Addicks in League One. It's not been an easy start to the season, with Dean Holden being replaced by Michael Appleton already.

Rovers will hope Edun is successful at Valley Parade. They received a nominal fee for his services, with bonuses added in based on promotion and other factors.

Dan Butterworth

Finally, we come to Butterworth, who joined Carlisle United on a permanent deal. After a decent loan spell at Port Vale, there was hope he could continue to progress.

That hasn't happened though. The 24-year-old hasn't started in the third tier this season, making three substitute appearances, totalling 52 minutes.

Fair to say that move up North hasn't worked out yet.
