Arnor Sigurdsson will travel with Blackburn Rovers to Ipswich Town and could play a part from the bench.
The Icelandic international is yet to make his competitive debut for Rovers having suffered a groin injury in pre-season. That ruled Sigurdsson out for 10 weeks, a long lay-off that has left everyone frustrated.
The forward has been back in training for several weeks and got 75 minutes for the Under-21s on Wednesday night. Having built his fitness up with in-house matches too, Tomasson feels he's ready to be involved at Portman Road.
"Niall Ennis, Sam Barnes and Sam Gallagher are injured," he said. "Arnir Sigurdsson will travel, he got 75 minutes with the 21s.
"He is not ready to play 90 minutes but he is making progress which is great. Tronstad got minutes as well which is very positive.
"Everyone else is fit, there will be some tired legs. The turnaround is quite quick and we all know in the Championship you can't use the same 11 every game.
"You need to use the squad. We'll see who is fit tomorrow and travel today, I am looking forward to it."
Fans have been excited to see Sigurdsson in action after arriving with plenty of fanfare in the summer. Though he will take time to get up to speed, Tomasson is also delighted to have him available again.
He sees the 24-year-old as an option on the left wing or as another player who can operate in similar areas to Sam Szmodics. That will give Rovers more options in the final third.
"Arnor is a new player, the fans want to see him, the staff want to see him but he has been injured for a while," Tomasson said. "He hasn't been ready but he's used to playing at a high level.
"He has a little bit more experience. All new players need time, it's quite normal when you come to a new place and when you have a strong identity as well.
"There are always expectations for new players which is normal. The demands should always be there but playing in our team should be heaven as an attacking player."
He added: "He can play as a left-winger, a ten, a false nine, a right-winger. In that way, he is quite flexible.
"I would say playing as a left-winger or as a 10/advanced eight is his best position for him."
Sondre Tornstad is also competing to be involved at Portman Road having featured for the Under-21s in midweek. He played an hour for Mike Sheron's side and hasn't been involved in the last two matchday squads.
The summer arrival hasn't started since the opening-day win over West Brom but Tomasson believes that it's normal for players to require an adaptation period. He pointed to Sam Szmodics and Callum Brittain's development as good examples.
"I think it's quite normal coming to another league, another country, we shouldn't forget how big this league is," Tomasson explained. "It can take time, Sam Szmodics said it last year, Callum Brittain too.
"I took him to London at one stage last year just to get him up to speed. For a new player, you have to give them time and the player then has to show he can cope with the league."
