Jon Dahl Tomasson was again left frustrated by Blackburn Rovers' missed chances after losing 3-1 to Sunderland.

Rovers spurned several glorious opportunities in the opening 25 minutes and then fell behind to a Jack Clarke penalty. Harry Leonard equalised by Dan Neil restored the visitors' lead before the break.

Blackburn pushed forward for a leveller and created more good opportunities but were eventually picked off on the counter-attack as Clarke added a second. Between both 18-yard boxes, they were excellent, but they were taught another brutal lesson inside them.

It left Tomasson again bemoaning a lack of clinical edge in front of goal, having relayed the same message against Middlesbrough despite the 2-1 win. He felt the goals they gave away were very avoidable too.

"We are very disappointed with the result," he said. "When you look at the chances we created, we should have scored three, four goals.

"Also, the way we created them and the amount of big chances, we should have been out of sight. We played some excellent football and we gave away unnecessary goals.

"When you are chasing the game, the second half is always more open. The penalty we conceded, it was the first time they were in our 18-yard box. The corner just before half-time.

"We started well second half, dominant again, created chances again. When you consider those amount of moments, it's crazy we didn't get a result today.

"You credit the opponent but if you look at how big the chances are, we have to be clinical. You have to create chances, the right type of chances and the ones we created were very big.

"We can't give away goals like we did but we should have been out of sight after 13 minutes. Credit for creating them but we have to be more clinical."
