Jon Dahl Tomasson has been left with a dilemma up front after losing Sam Gallagher for the visit of Sunderland.
The striker is set for 'several weeks' on the sidelines after getting injured against Middlesbrough. The injurt has turned out to be worse than first feared and he's unlikely to feature before November.
That leaves a vacancy in attack, which could be filled by Semir Telalovic. He came on for his debut against Sunderland but it's whether he is deemed ready to go straight into the team from the start.
Lewis Travis is the other doubt, though Tomasson is hopeful he could be available. With a busy schedule coming up, there could be rotation elsewhere too.
Here's The Lancashire Telegraph's best guess on how Rovers might line-up against Sunderland on Wednesday night.
Goalkeeper
Aysnley Pears responded with an impressive performance against Middlesbrough after keeping his place in goal. He is Tomasson's number one and will remain in goal.
Defence
After a good defensive performance at the weekend, there isn't much need for change across the defence.
James Hill was a late substitute but played a makeshift holding midfield role. Joe Rankin-Costello might be needed elsewhere too.
So I'd expect a defence of Callum Brittain, Hayden Carter, Dom Haym and Harry Pickering to continue against the Black Cats.
Midfield
Lewis Travis is a doubt for the game after hobbling off against Middlesbrough but is hasn't been ruled out by Tomasson. He's started every Championship game so far and missing him would be a blow.
Rankin-Costello was his replacement on Saturday and could come into the team. He hasn't started a Championship match in midfield yet but has played there as a substitute.
Jake Garrett and Sondre Tronstad are the other options, though the latter didn't make the squad at the weekend. If Travis is deemed fit enough, he could keep his place.
Attack
Unlike Travis, Sam Gallagher is definitely out in a major blow to Rovers. The striker is set for 'several weeks' on the sidelines with his injury.
His absence leaves Tomasson with a dilemma up front. Semir Telalovic and Harry Leonard will be competing to start, with Niall Ennis still injured. Tomasson could potentially throw a curveball with Tyrhys Dolan, Sam Szmodics and Ryan Hedges capable of playing as a false nine.
If he doesn't start up front, the other consideration is whether Dolan should keep his place or if Andrew Moran should come in on the left. I think the latter might get another chance given his dynamism in transition.
Blackburn Rovers (4-3-3): Pears; Brittain, Carter, Hyam, Pickering; Wharton, Rankin-Costello, Szmodics; Hedges, Dolan, Telalovic.
