It would be quite natural for Semir Telalovic to not fancy media duties, two weeks into a new life in a foreign country.

The Blackburn Rovers striker has had a little bit of settling in time with transfer deadline day falling on the eve of the international break. A free week on the training ground has offered more time to adapt to new surroundings and plunder three goals in a behind-closed-doors match against Rochdale.

Meeting Telalovic for the first time, he is not a nervous character. Any anxieties about adapting to a new language are well hidden. His English is excellent, he's humble but confident and clear about his desire to play for Rovers.

"The first two weeks have been very different for me. A different culture, a different club," Telalovic explains, reflecting on a new start. "It's a new philosophy to play football but it's very exciting.

"I like it here, every day is a new challenge. There is a lot of energy in this dressing room.

"I think the league is so tough, the competition is so nice. I had some opportunities but then I had the call from England, Blackburn Rovers, and everyone knows it's a traditional club, a nice league and I wanted to come to England.

"At my age, I can improve a lot. I told my agent that I wanted to make this move and I decided very quickly to come to Blackburn."

Telalovic could not ask for a better mentor. Jon Dahl Tomasson must be a striker's dream having played at the very top of the game. He understands how centre-forwards think and what they need.

Whilst the Rovers head coach will tell you he likes to work with all of the squad, there must be a part of him that relishes the opportunity to mould a young centre-forward. Telaovic is hoping to pick up a thing or two.

"It's been a lot of tactical stuff with the whole team," Telalovic explains. "How I can play with my strengths and he's shown me how the team will play so I can step in.

"I hope that he will show me some things around the box and he will help me to score goals, with some movements in the games. He has so much experience and I hope we will work good together."

Buying into the football club is important to Telalovic. Not just on the field but off the pitch too. He's currently staying at the local hotel, as most new players do, but plans are already in place to move to Manchester permanently.

A settled off-field life can be as important as the tactical styles on the pitch. Telalovic wants to embrace English culture and he feels that will have a direct impact on his performances on the pitch.

"It's good for me to have some games here at home," he said. "I am in the hotel now but I will be moving to Manchester.

"I think for me, it's better as I am from another country. It's good for me to be around people, I think I'll be able to improve outside the pitch as well with my language.

"Living in Manchester, we can arrive together in training and I'll learn together. I think it will help me, I am looking forward for that and it will help me learn outside the pitch.

"I need to feel comfortable outside the pitch. I will have a nice City around me and a lot of people."

Whilst Tomasson may have wanted a 'proven' Championship goal-scorer but that wasn't going to be easy with Rovers' limited transfer budget. Instead, he has a more raw, unknown quantity, who has the physical make-up to be an exciting addition.

Coupled with the more experienced Sam Gallagher, the up-and-coming Niall Ennis and the raw talent of Harry Leonard, Tomason has more options to play with, at least. With Ennis out for a further two weeks, having Telalovic will give Tomason another senior option to consider.

Saturday might be too soon to see the 23-year-old from the start. Sam Gallagher has the shirt and although he presents a different option in attack, Telalovic thinks that the squad is packed with different options for new opponents.

"I think with Sam Gallagher, we have a good striker with lots of experience," he said. "But he's a striker with very different qualities to me.

"I think with me, we have two different types of good quality in front of the goal. There are other guys that are younger, they'll need some time but they are very talented like the whole team.

"I said to the coach that we have so many players with different qualities to win games, to have good quality every three days. I am very confident, I think I'll get my minutes but I have to deserve it every day. I think I can help the team with my quality."
