Steven Schumacher admits his Plymouth side were second best at times against Rovers – but was delighted with their clinical finishing.
Finn Azaz got the opener after his strike deflected off a couple of bodies, while Ryan Hardie and Luke Cundle wrapped up the result after the break.
The result saw Plymouth end a run of three successive defeats in all competitions and climb into the top 10.
"It's a huge three points for us,” Schumacher told Plymouth Live. “It gives us seven points from our first five games. We can all be quite pleased with that.
"We go into the international break having got maximum points, which we said was going to be important, but I thought today we have actually won the game without probably playing our best.
"I think we have played better in the last two league games, and even on Tuesday night (against Crystal Palace) and haven't got anything from them, so it's a funny old game football.”
Rovers started on the front foot and should have taken an early lead when Ryan Hedges steered wide from 12 yards after getting in behind the hosts’ backline.
"I think Blackburn were a real tough opponent and for us to get three points in it is a huge win. We knew they were going to cause us problems,” Schumacher continued.
"Their style of play, their energy and the athleticism they have got in their team, I really like them. I think they are a really good, well-organised, fit, young squad and have caused everyone they have played so far this season problems.
"They caused us problems. I felt in the first half they had more energy than us, they played with a better tempo. I felt we were half a yard off them and they were the better team.
"We scored against the run of play and then we spoke at half-time about being a little bit more aggressive.
“We changed our press slightly and then with the chances we created in the second half we were clinical with them. As everyone has seen so far it's hugely important in the Championship."
