Burnley have completed the signing of Anderlecht defender Hannes Delcroix for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old centre-back has put pen to paper over a three-year deal at Turf Moor to reunite with former boss Vincent Kompany.

Haiti born Delcroix moved to Belgium at the age of two and spent time at Antwerp and RBC Roosendal before moving to Anderlecht’s youth ranks in 2013.

He signed his first professional contract at the club in January 2017 and made his first-team debut the following year.

Delcroix had a loan spell in the Eredivisie with RKC Waalwijk during the 2019/20 campaign and has spent the last three season in the Belgian Pro League.

The defender has represented Belgium from Under-15 to Under-21 levels and made his senior debut against Switzerland in November 2020.

“I heard I think on Monday or Tuesday last week that Burnley was interested in me,” he told the club website.

“It went really quick. I had a phone call with Vinny and Saturday I was already on the plane. So, it went very quick. It was a very busy few days, but I am happy to be here now.

“It’s a different competition, the Premier League. Everybody knows it. It’s the best competition in the world at the moment.

“For me, it’s a big opportunity to come here and it’s a great team. It was not difficult to come here when I got the option.”

Burnley are back in action in Sunday afternoon when they welcome Aston Villa to Turf Moor (2pm).

Kompany's men were beaten 3-0 by treble winners Manchester City on the opening day. Erling Haaland bagged a brace and Rodri also managed to get on the scoresheet that night.
