Rovers came from behind to claim a point against Rotherham, but which players stood out at the New York Stadium?
AYNSLEY PEARS… 6
Had no chance with either goal and didn’t have much to do during the rest of the game. Will be keen to keep his place in the side following the arrival of Leo Wahlstedt, who was on the bench against the Millers.
JOE RANKIN-COSTELLO…7.5
Had a big impact when he was pushed higher up the pitch during the final half hour. Combined effectively with Brittain down the right wing and caused plenty of problems with crosses into the box.
DOM HYAM…6.5
Made an important clearance at 0-0 and was tidy in possession. Rotherham aren’t afraid to mix it up and try to make life difficult for the opposition, but Hyam’s experience helped keep them at bay for most of the game.
HAYDEN CARTER…6.5
Continues to look comfortable alongside Hyam at the heart of defence, and their partnership will only improve with time. Rovers were generally solid, which makes it more frustrating to concede a couple of soft goals either side of half time.
HARRY PICKERING…6.5
Made the most of his opportunities to get forward and join the attack during the second half. Was denied by an impressive stop by Johansson after catching a strike sweetly from the edge of the penalty area.
LEWIS TRAVIS…6
Covered plenty of distance as always, but it didn’t quite happen for the skipper on this occasion. He made way for the final half hour as Rovers searched for a way back into the game.
ADAM WHARTON…6.5
Played some nice passes but his impact in the final third was limited at times while playing in a deeper role alongside Travis. Was involved in Rovers’ first goal after a well worked short corner routine.
SAM SZMODICS…7.5
Had a disastrous first half, missing a penalty and losing possession cheaply for the opener, but showed real character to make amends after the break. Took his second goal very well to go round the goalkeeper and beat the defender on the line.
DILAN MARKANDAY…6
Got into a few decent positions during the first half but wasn’t able to hurt the Rotherham backline. Perhaps better suited to playing against teams who play out from the back and invite the press like West Brom.
HARRY LEONARD…6
Struggled to influence the game and found himself isolated at times against a disciplined Rotherham side. At his best when there is space to get in behind the opposition backline and utilise his pace.
TYRHYS DOLAN…6
Should have scored on the rebound after Szmodics’ penalty miss but skewed wide with the goal at his mercy. Had a couple of nice touches but generally struggled to contribute in the final third.
