Rovers boss Jon Dal Tomasson has been pleased to see the goals shared around the squad during the first couple of games this season.
Dilan Markanday and Harry Leonard were both on target against West Brom at the weekend, while Zak Gilsenan, Niall Ennis, Jake Garrett and John Buckley all got on the scoresheet against Walsall on Tuesday night.
Tomasson had previously spoken about needing to be more effective in the final third after scoring 52 league goals last season – lower than any other team in the top 11.
Moreover, Ben Brereton and Bradley Dack – who both departed Ewood Park earlier this summer – scored 23 goals between them last term.
“It is extremely pleasing,” said Tomasson. “It is also great to see the way we scored the goals – quick combinations, playing forward instead of sideways or backwards.
“We want to play forward but it can be difficult when the opponents are defending well. They were great goals and it is good we are sharing them within the squad.”
Seven Academy graduates featured against the Saddlers as Rovers booked their place in the Carabao Cup second round. Five of those were making their full debut at senior level.
“I am pleased with all of the young guns because they are working hard to become better every day,” the boss continued.
“If you look how young they are and how willing they are to become better, it is great.
“The Academy has done good work, for sure. It is great when players get a chance in the first team because they know they are not working for nothing. There is a bonus that they can be proud of.”
Leopold Wahlstedt has now been granted his visa after joining on a three-year deal from Norwegian side Odds BK, which means he can now train with his new team-mates.
Tomasson is pleased the club has been able to bolster its goalkeeping department quickly following Thomas Kaminski’s move to Premier League newcomers Luton.
“He’s a young goalkeeper, he has some of the qualities that we want as a club and it’s positive,” the boss said. “He’s a new goalkeeper who’s coming in and will need to get used to things.
“With someone of Ben Benson’s excellent quality, he’s someone that can become even better and that’s what you want.
“He’s a young player who needs to become better and it’s great to have a new player coming into the building, one who is very excited as well.
“He’s good on the ball and that’s what you need with the way we want to play football, so that’s a positive.
“Every player coming into the building needs that little bit of time, and that’s something we saw last season. We’ll give the boy a bit of time, but we’re really excited to have him.”
Rovers are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they continue their league campaign with a trip to Rotherham (3pm).
