Felix Goddard has put pen to paper over a new deal that will keep him at Rovers until at least the summer of 2025.
The young goalkeeper will now spend the 2023/24 season on loan at Marine in the non-league pyramid.
Goddard joined Rovers’ ranks in September 2020 and had previously been at Manchester City since the age of 13.
He has previously had loan spells at Lancaster City and Bamber Bridge over the past couple of seasons.
The 19-year-old is relishing the opportunity to get more experience in men’s football over the coming season.
“I’m very happy to get it over the line and I can’t wait to kick on and keep improving as a player,” said the shot stopper.
“I’ve improved massively in my time here and have matured over the last three years. I feel I’ve kicked on every season and improved my game. I’ve been really pleased with my development.
“The senior goalkeepers here are great to learn from and I’ve received a lot of advice throughout my time. It’s a great environment at Rovers and a great union to be a part of.
“I want to keep on developing over these next two years and to gain more experience until I’m hopefully ready for the first team.”
Marine finished ninth in the Northern Premier League top flight last season.
“This loan will be good," Goddard added. "It will be similar to last season where I’ll play loads of games and look to build on those experiences, gaining new ones as well.
“I will hopefully become a better goalkeeper from it. Games are what I look forward to every week and that’s always the main buzz I get.
“With loads of games to come in senior football, it’s a time that I’m really looking forward to.”
