Rovers’ trip to Watford will now take place on Sunday, August 27 after being selected for Sky Sports coverage.
The fixture at Vicarage Road was originally scheduled to be played a day earlier. It will now kick-off at 12pm.
Watford are aiming to build on last season’s 11th-place finish in the Championship. The Hornets appointed former West Brom boss Valerian Ismael as their new head coach earlier this summer.
Ismael succeeds Chris Wilder in the hot seat after the 55-year-old had a brief stint in charge during the final stages of the campaign.
Watford have already brought in Tom Ince, Jake Livermore and Rhys Healey ahead of the new season. Meanwhile, the likes of Joao Pedro and William Troost-Ekong departed the club this summer.
The points were shared when the sides met in the capital last term, with Wesley Hoedt cancelling out Bradley Dack’s opener.
Rovers ran out 2-0 winners in the reverse fixture at Ewood Park thanks to goals from Ryan Hedges and Dom Hyam.
Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men kick-off the new Championship season with a home fixture against West Brom on Saturday, August 5.
Rovers also have a Carabao Cup tie against Walsall - as well as league games against Rotherham and Hull - before their trip to Watford.
Ticket and travel details for the trip to Vicarage Road will be announced in due course.
