Former Rovers striker Chris Sutton has taken up a punditry role at Sky Sports ahead of the new campaign.
Sutton - who scored 62 goals in 162 appearances at Ewood Park between 1994 and 1999 - previously appeared on BT Sport, which has now been rebranded to TNT Sports.
The 50-year-old will now be a key part of Sky’s Scottish Premiership coverage, having spent six years at Celtic as a player.
An official statement confirmed: “Chris Sutton will join Sky Sports for the new cinch Premiership season.
“Known for his forthright opinions on the Scottish game, Sutton will join as a lead pundit alongside former Rangers star Kris Boyd as well as Eilidh Barbour and Ian Crocker.”
Sutton also had spells at Chelsea, Norwich, Birmingham and Aston Villa before he was forced to call time on his playing career due to an eye injury in 2007.
“I can’t wait to join the Sky Sports team ahead of an exciting new cinch Premiership season,” said the former Rovers man. “I’m sure Kris and I will have some good discussions throughout.”
The striker was part of the Rovers squad that famously won the Premier League title in 1995 under Kenny Dalglish.
He is perhaps best known for his lethal partnership with Alan Shearer, which remains one of the most effective in top flight history.
Sky’s director of football, Gary Hughes, added: “Chris is as sharp on the mic as he was in front of goal for Celtic.
“We look forward to him joining our coverage of the cinch Premiership, bringing his incredible experience and forthright opinions to our coverage.”
