Xisco Munoz has confirmed that Burnley goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell is a potential target for Sheffield Wednesday this summer.

The Northern Ireland international made 16 appearances for the Clarets last season in all competitions.

He impressed during a loan spell at Hillsborough during the 2021/22 campaign, keeping 15 clean sheets in the league.

New Wednesday boss Munoz, who succeeded Darren Moore in the hot seat despite last season’s promotion to the Championship, admits they think highly of the Burnley shot stopper.

When asked about a potential approach, he said: “Maybe yes, maybe no. He’s one of the goalkeepers on our list.

“I think he’s one of the important options for us but we always have three or four options for each position.

“He is a good goalkeeper, a very good goalkeeper, and he’s one that can come with us but we will see what happens.”

Arijanet Muric was the first-choice goalkeeper at Burnley for the majority of last season, while England Under-21 international James Trafford is reportedly close to completing a move to Turf Moor.

Earlier this summer, Peacock-Farrell said: “I am in a role where you can either get a lot of games or absolutely none. I’ve been quite happy that I got the amount of games that I have.

“We had really good cup runs and I played the back end of the season as well as a couple of games at the front.

Overall, I could have done with a few more games and I like to play every game, but it certainly wasn’t a bad season.”

The 26-year-old represented his country during the Euro qualifiers against Denmark and Kazakhstan last month before returning to pre-season training at Burnley.
