Burnley have completed the signing of Switzerland international Zeki Amdouni from Basel.

The 22-year-old forward has put pen to paper over a five-year deal at Turf Moor and arrives for an undisclosed fee.

Amdouni scored 22 goals in 52 appearances last season and was on target against Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League semi-final.

He has represented Switzerland at senior level and also featured in the European Under-21 Championship this summer, scoring twice in four games.

“I’m very happy to be here and I’m excited to start,” said the youngster. “The last two months were very important to me - I spoke to the coach and he really wanted me.

“Also, I really wanted to work with him. For my career, to choose a good club where the coach wants you is important to me.

“I know the Premier League is best league in the world. It’s not easy for sure but I am confident with the coach, and the staff, I can do good things here.”

Amdouni arrives at Turf Moor following the signings of Dara O’Shea and Lawrence Vigouroux from West Brom and Leyton Orient respectively. Burnley also completed permanent deals for Jordan Beyer and Michael Obafemi following loan spells last term.

Vincent Kompany added: "Zeki is such a goal threat. The way he can play the final pass creates so many assists and thanks to the amount of work he puts in on the pitch - he scores plenty himself.

"He’s a very intelligent footballer, technically gifted and with a great work ethic. He works really hard. We’re looking forward to working with him. He’s a big talent.”

Kompany’s men are preparing for life back in the top flight after securing the Championship title last season.

The Clarets kick-off the Premier League season with a home fixture against treble winners Manchester City on Friday, August 11 (8pm).
