Rovers will be two attackers down for the friendly double-header with TSV Hartberg.
Neither Arnor Sigurdsson or Jack Vale were involved in Friday’s training session at the club’s Bad Radkersburg base.
The rest of the squad trained in searing heat for what was their final session in Austria before taking on TSV in a double-header on Saturday.
The first game will get under way at 10:30am, and the second at 1pm (local time), both of which will be 90 minutes long.
Sigurdsson won’t be involved however as he sits out the game due to a groin problem.
The severity of that will be assessed upon the 24-year-old’s return to the UK.
Summer signing Sigurdsson didn’t feature in the opening friendly against Accrington Stanley having only received his work permit two days before that fixture.
He has now trained with the squad for six days, but has picked up a groin concern that will rule him out of the second friendly.
Vale, who missed the final two months of last season through injury, limped out of training early into Thursday’s session, with the club now confirming that was due to a hamstring issue.
He too will be assessed when Rovers return to Brockhall, but the likelihood is that his will be the lengthier of the two injuries.
Harry Pickering picked up an ankle knock and will be assessed ahead of the Hartberg games.
Sigurdsson and Vale were both expected to be among the 22 players that would start the two friendlies.
Opportunities are therefore set to come the way of Charlie Weston and Zak Gilsenan to start against the Austrian Bundesliga side.
Most of the squad completed 60 minutes in the opening friendly against Stanley, with 90 minutes on offer at the Profertil Arena should Jon Dahl Tomasson feel the need to give anyone a full game.
The heat could have an impact on those plans, however.
The substitutes across both games will be made up of the young players who won’t start, but there will be little cover in attack given the options available.
