Arnor Sigurdsson believes Rovers is a perfect fit for him and is relishing the chance to be part of an “exciting project”.

Sigurdsson has joined the club from Russian outfit CSKA Moscow on a deal until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

The Iceland international arrives at Ewood Park after “exercising his right to move clubs in accordance with current FIFA regulations”.

He becomes the club’s third signing of the summer after Niall Ennis and Sondre Tronstad, who joined on free transfers from Plymouth and Vitesse Arnhem respectively.

“I’m so happy and really excited to get started now it’s a done deal,” Sigurdsson told RoversTV.

“We started to talk a few weeks ago and I had a meeting with the coach and Gregg [Broughton]. It’s a really exciting project that's going on and I’m proud to be a part of it.

“After listening to what the ideas are and where the club wants to go, I think it fits myself as a person and as a player. I got excited about the move pretty quickly.

“I’m really excited to help the team and give everything for the badge, I can’t wait to get started now I’ve come here and seen everything.

“I feel ready to take this next step and give absolutely everything for the team.”

The 24-year-old attacker made his name at Swedish side IFK Norrkoping before he was sold to CSKA for a club record fee in the summer of 2018.

He managed a goal and an assist during a memorable 3-0 victory against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in 2018.

"Blackburn Rovers is a big club and I know the club from growing up and watching English football," Sigurdsson added.

“Every footballer dreams of playing in England and this is a dream come true to come and take the step here.

“I’m really proud of it because, as I said, when I was a kid I’d watch the Premier League and Rovers were playing at that level.

“Everyone watches English football because the Premier League and the Championship are really strong leagues.”
