Borussia Dortmund defender Soumaila Coulibaly is reportedly in “advanced discussions” over a loan move to Burnley.
The 19-year-old centre-back came through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain and made the move to Germany a couple of years ago.
Coulibaly was regularly involved for the reserve team last season and also made a couple of appearances in the Champions League and Bundesliga.
He is under a long-term contract at Dortmund but could head out on loan this summer as he continues his development.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, the Clarets are keen to bring him to Turf Moor as Vincent Kompany’s side prepare for their return to the Premier League.
Jordan Beyer, who was a key member of Kompany’s squad last term, has already completed a permanent move from Borussia Monchengladbach this summer.
Ameen Al-Dakhil and Hjalmar Ekdal also showed promising signs after joining the Clarets in the January transfer window.
England Under-21 captain Taylor Harwood-Bellis went from strength to strength at Turf Moor last season but has now returned to parent club Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Luke McNally impressed during a loan spell at Coventry during the second half of the campaign as Mark Robins’ side came up just short against Luton in the play-off final at Wembley.
Burnley have also been linked with a loan move for Manchester City full-back Sergio Gomez ahead of the new season.
Gomez made 12 appearances in the league last season as Pep Guardiola’s men clinched the title for the third successive year.
However, the 22-year-old has now expressed his desire to remain at the Etihad and fight for a place in the side.
He told Spanish newspaper AS: “I haven't talked to (Guardiola) about the next season, but I want to stay there.
"I'm going to go from the first day of the pre-season with a lot of desire to show him that I can have more minutes.”
