SOME of the greatest darters ever to toe the oche swept into Blackburn last night as the League of Legends tour made a stop in East Lancashire.
In front of a packed house at King George's Hall, the eight players, who boast a total of nine world titles between them, were in great form as they vied to climb the ladder to give themselves the best chance possible of reaching the finals in Purfleet on August 22 and claim the lion's share of the £90,000 prize pot.
"King of Bling" Bobby George dazzled the crowd with his stunning entrance and his darts as he kicked off the night against Dave Whitcombe.
However, it ultimately ended in failure as George went down 7-4.
Then came the "Crafty Cockney" Eric Bristow to take on "Big Cliff" Lazarenko.
Rank outsider Bristow shocked favourite George last week. But he was on the wrong end of the result last night, with Lazarenko comfortably winning 7-3.
The 1983 World champion Keith "The Fella" Deller lost to the youngest competitor, 44-year-old "Fen Tiger" Peter Evison, 7-5.
The final showdown of the night was between two former world champions - bookies' favourite "Limestone Cow-boy" Bob Anderson and "Old Stoneface" John Lowe.
And the bookies got it spot on as Anderson finished a 7-2 winner.
