Jon Dahl Tomasson says he knows Ben Brereton will give his all for as long as he is a Rovers player.
Brereton is into the final months of his deal, with the expectation that he will be moving on this summer.
Yet Rovers have plenty to play for before then, sitting fifth in the Championship and with an FA Cup quarter final on the horizon.
Brereton scored his 12th of the season when coming off the bench in the defeat at Stoke City last week, only his second goal since the World Cup break.
He hasn’t featured from the start in any of Rovers’ last five games, which included a spell out through injury.
Now back fit, Brereton is expected to return to the side against Reading tonight and could have a pivotal say in Rovers’ bid to make the top six.
That is the focus of Tomasson, rather than his longer-term future, even though he concedes the expectation is that the Chile international will be moving on.
He said: “There is nothing official.
“The only thing we know Ben will try and perform for us.
“Everyone knows that there is a good chance the boy will be going, we know that.
“If they didn’t have that feeling, they haven’t been listening at all.”

Brereton will join up with the Chile squad next week ahead of their friendly with Paraguay on March 28.
He was withdrawn from the squad for their November matches due to his workload which saw him start Rovers’ first 27 Championship matches.
He has spent time out of the side since, and Tomasson said: “Ben played a lot of games, he probably played too many games as well.
“I think I should have given him a rest in that period because he was fatigued.
“I think that he’s looking fresh now which is extremely positive.”
