Rovers players ratings from 1-0 win over Swansea City
Aynsley Pears 7
Faultless once again, particularly with his handling and distribution. An excellent late punch sealed the win, with his best save being to deny Piroe’s long-ranger.
Hayden Carter 7
Continues to enjoy a run in the team, and some good form. Heart-in-mount moment late on when almost putting through his own goal late on, but is developing nicely and was braver on the ball in the second half.
Daniel Ayala 6
Came up with the winning goal, his first of the season, when heading home from close range. Didn’t engage Piroe well enough for him to get two efforts on goal.
Dom Hyam 6
Didn’t look as comfortable playing on the left side of the defence when it came to building the play. Was more on the front foot in the second half and came up with an assist for the winner.
Sorba Thomas 6
Booked early for a foul on Manning and more like a right back in the first half. Much more involved in a second half when operating like a winger and delivered nine crosses into the box and had a shot cleared off the line.
Harry Pickering 7
Delivered some good balls in from the left flank in a second half of which he spent much of it in the Swansea half. Put in five crosses, including one which was headed wide by Gallagher. Had the most touches of any Rovers player (85).
Lewis Travis 7
Is finding himself very advanced in his new-look role. Completed 39 of his 42 passes and was one of the few willing to press from the off.
John Buckley 6
Struggled in the first half, playing too safe, but was on the ball in better areas in the second and had the second-most touches.
Sam Gallagher 6
Nearly moments in the box as he looked to get on the end of crosses, with one flicked header wide from a Pickering delivery. Was starved of any service in the first half, but needed to be more secure in possession in the few times they did.
Ben Brereton 6
Hasn’t looked 100 per cent fit in recent weeks and limped off moments after going close. Did give Rovers some drive and had three efforts in all before being replaced.
Tyrhys Dolan 7
A run and shot wide of the target was a rare moment to savour in the first half. Pressed and harried Swansea, even if at times on his own. May now be required on the left
Subs
Bradley Dack (for Gallagher, 72) 6
Ryan Hedges (for Brereton, 78) 6
Sam Szmodics (for Dack, 85) 6
