Burnley winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2024 with the option for a further 12 months.
Gudmundsson has become an important member of Vincent Kompany’s squad since returning from injury and his previous deal was set to expire this summer.
The 32-year-old joined the Clarets from Charlton in the summer of 2016 and has gone on to make 180 appearances for the club in total.
He has scored twice in 24 appearances since the start of the campaign, including a superb free-kick in a 3-0 win at QPR last month.
Gudmundsson is delighted to have extended his stay at Turf Moor and is excited for what lies ahead for Kompany’s side.
He told the club’s website: "I'm really pleased, obviously it's a new journey with the club and it's something I really want to be a part of.
"This season has gone fantastically well for the team and we've done really well, but we know there's still a lot of work to be done.
"I love the club and it's great news for me and my family to extend my stay for another year.”
Meanwhile, versatile youngster CJ Egan-Riley will spent the rest of the season on loan at Scottish side Hibernian.
The 20-year-old has made six first-team appearances this term following his summer move from Manchester City.
Manager Lee Johnston told the club’s website: “CJ is a top young talent, and we can’t wait to start working with him.
“He’s a player that Vincent Kompany took to Burnley after knowing his qualities from the Manchester City set-up.
“Due to Burnley’s positive form and performances this season, they have allowed him out to get important game-time, and as soon as we knew he was available, we were quick to snap up the opportunity.
“He provides us with extra versatility playing as a centre-half, number six, and as a right-back. We see this as an opportunity to help us improve, but also as a huge opportunity for him to develop.”
Hibernian are currently fifth in the Scottish Premiership table – just two points behind fourth-place Livingston at this stage.
