Rovers player ratings from the 2-2 FA Cup draw with Birmingham City
Thomas Kaminski 5
Will have been disappointed with both Birmingham goals, and almost let another Khadra shot squirm underneath him. Made a smart stop to deny the same player in the second half, and kept out Jutkiewicz in the first.
Joe Rankin-Costello 7
Had a hand in the first goal and scored Rovers’ second as his renaissance continues. Was a driving force in the second half from right back.
Hayden Carter 6
Didn’t let the experienced Jutkiewicz bully him and was generally sold in his work, making five clearances in all. Headed wide from a second half corner.
Scott Wharton 5
Missed his chance to clear as Birmingham pounced to grab a late equaliser. Hasn’t looked his usual calm self of late. Booked for a second half foul on Friend.
Harry Pickering 6
In typical fashion, was unfussy in his work but didn’t get forward to the same level as Rankin-Costello on the opposite side.
Tyler Morton 5
A tough afternoon as it was his pass that was intercepted for the opening goal. Played backwards and sidewards too much and picked up a booking for a second half shove.
John Buckley 5
Was a little too safe in his play at times, and a nagging feeling that he has the quality to do more damage in games given the number of touches (105) he had. Was replaced in the final 15 minutes.
Ryan Hedges 5
Was set to come out for the second half until feeling an injury. Created a good moment for Gallagher with neat footwork just before the equaliser but otherwise limited in his threat.
Bradley Dack 6
Took his first chance when it came as he tapped home from close range to level. Had earlier tried an ambitious 35-yard effort, while didn’t catch a second half shot cleanly from 12 yards. Tired towards the end.
Ben Brereton 6
Tested Etheridge with two efforts from distance in the first half, from closer in after the break, but should have taken a one-on-one chance to make the game safe. Keeps getting the chances, but his wait for a goal goes on.
Sam Gallagher 6
Got his chance down the middle, but surprisingly turned down a shooting chance in a frustrating first half. Had more of an influence in the second half but only managed one attempt at goal.
Subs
Tyrhys Dolan (for Hedges, 46) 7
Added some energy and drive to the attacking line after his introduction in the second half and created a good chance for Brereton.
Lewis Travis (for Buckley, 75) 6
Sam Szmodics (for Dack, 87) 6
Jack Vale (for Gallagher, 90) 6
Not used: Aynsley Pears, Ash Phillips, Tayo Edun, Jake Garrett, Harry Leonard
