Tyrhys Dolan will travel with the squad to Rotherham United – but Jon Dahl Tomasson has revealed a couple of doubts for tomorrow’s game.
Dolan has missed Rovers’ four matches since sustaining a groin injury late on in the Carabao Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest but returned to training on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old has trained with the squad since and Tomasson has confirmed he will be part of the squad at the New York Stadium.
The head coach is pleased to have Dolan back, particularly given his versatility across the forward line, with the attacker having scored on his return to the side at Norwich City before his injury in the following game.
“Tyrhys has been back in training,” Tomasson said.
“He has trained for a couple of days and will be travelling.
“He has been out since that Forest game where he got caught between two players.
“It was unlucky for the boy.
“He’s a player that we like, he can play in a lot of different positions. He is dangerous and is handful for the opponent.”
Scott Wharton has been ruled out of the game with concussion, having sustained a head injury in the early stages of the FA Cup win at Norwich City.
“Scott will not be ready. We are following the protocol,” he added.
“It was difficult at the start but he’s getting better.
“He will slowly get back on the grass and should be around it next week.
Daniel Ayala is a doubt, having not trained fully this week, while Adam Wharton has also sustained a knock.
Sam Szmodics remains out, and will miss his fifth successive match, while Rovers also have longer-term injury concerns in Callum Brittain, Sam Barnes and Jake Batty.
“Adam got a kick on his ankle and won’t be ready,” Tomasson revealed.
“Daniel has been in and out so that’s a question mark.
“The group has been stretched a bit but we are going to Rotherham to try and win, as we do every game.”
