Rovers will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Championship when they take on Mark Hudson’s Cardiff City.
Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men suffered a 2-1 defeat against Middlesbrough in their last outing after John Buckley was shown a controversial red card.
Rovers are still third in the table despite the result, but the gap to second-place Sheffield United is now up to 11 points.
Meanwhile, Cardiff are in 20th place and enter the game on the back of a goalless draw against Coventry.
When and where is the game being played?
The fixture takes place at Ewood Park on Sunday, January 1 (12pm). The Welsh club recorded a 1-0 victory when the sides met at the Cardiff City Stadium earlier this season, with Mark Harris getting the decisive goal.
Rovers’ last win in the fixture came nearly a year ago when Joe Rothwell was on target, although they did finish the game with 10 men after Ryan Nyambe was given his marching orders.
