Burnley boss Vincent Kompany praised his side’s persistence after they left it late to secure a 3-2 victory against Rotherham at Turf Moor.
Ben Wiles put the visitors in front but the Clarets hit back through Jay Rodriguez 10 minutes before the break.
Chiedozie Ogbene put the Yorkshire club back in front after the break before Cohen Bramall was shown a second yellow card.
Manuel Benson got the hosts back on level terms, with Halil Dervisoglu scoring a dramatic winner in the 10th minute of stoppage time.
Kompany’s men are now five points clear at the top of the Championship table, having lost just one game since the start of the campaign.
The Clarets chief said: “I was thinking it would be one of those nights when it won’t go in, but we kept going and were rewarded. It gives us a night to remember.
“The guys are happy in the dressing room. It’s a team that can do 95 minutes, or double that, if they need to. Fitness is not a problem with these guys.”
He added: “We have to live on the momentum. I got warned by many coaches about those guys who are top by Christmas and then drop off.
“We need the right mindset not to focus too much on the league but on improving our performance.”
Burnley are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they head to Bramall Lane to take on third-place Sheffield United.
