Player ratings from Rovers' home win over Rotherham United

Thomas Kaminski 7

Kept a fifth clean sheet on his 100th league appearance. His best save came to deny Rathbone early on, while he was quickly off his line to deny Wiles just before the break. Took no risks with his distribution.

Dom Hyam 7

Is earning the tag of ‘dependable Dom’ after another assured display. Won five headers, kept his distribution simple, and helped Rovers to a clean sheet.

Daniel Ayala 7

Was left isolated against Ogbene in the first half, but Rovers did a better job of containing the pacey attacker in the second.

Scott Wharton 8

Was a threat from set pieces, getting on the end of two Morton deliveries. Rovers’ distribution looks much better with him in the team, and made a fine block to deny Ogbene late in the first half.

Ryan Hedges 8

While his starting position was right wing-back, he was everywhere but when Rovers had the ball. Should have been more selfish when trying to square a second half opportunity, and picked up some good positions throughout.

Harry Pickering 8

Made one excellent pass in the lead-up to the penalty, and another in the second half to set up Hedges. Took up some intelligent positions in central positions to become involved in the build-up.

Tyler Morton 9

The beating heart of everything that was good about Rovers, with some eye-catching passing and tempo to his play. His break in to the box won the penalty, while it was from his set plays Rovers looked a threat all afternoon.

Lewis Travis 7

Completed 94 per cent of his passes, but it was his work off the ball that made him the perfect foil for Morton.

Sam Szmodics 8

Couldn’t adjust his head to turn in a Hedges cross at the start of the second half, but came up with an inch-perfect cross to assist Brereton, before scoring himself with a composed finish.

Sam Gallagher 7

Gave Rovers an outlet down the right, and could easily have won Rovers a second penalty, while his extra height was a welcome addition to the attack. Will still want to add more of a goal threat to his play, having not managed an attempt at goal.

Ben Brereton 8

Confidently put Rovers ahead from the spot and found the crucial second with an excellent first time finish from Szmodics’ cross. Had a long-range shot over the top in his quest for a hat-trick before being replaced.

Had a hand in Rovers’ third goal, soon after coming on, when sliding in Szmodics. Now has five assists to add to his three goals this season.
