Burnley will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run in the Championship when they welcome Stoke City to Turf Moor.

Vincent Kompany’s men enter the game on the back of a 1-1 draw at Cardiff after Callum Robinson scored a late equaliser.

Nathan Tella had earlier put the Clarets in front, stabbing home from Ian Maatsen’s low cross after a well-worked move.

Charlie Taylor returned from a hamstring problem at the weekend, having missed the win against Bristol City before the international break.

Kompany has indicated he will need all his players during a month which includes eight league fixtures and could rotate after Saturday’s disappointing draw.

Darko Churlinov and Ashley Westwood are long-term absentees, while Scott Twine and Kevin Long have also had spells out of action.

As for the visitors, Alex Neil says he has “seven or eight” injuries for the trip to East Lancashire but was coy over their identities.

Opposition lowdown

Neil took charge at Stoke back in August, opting to leave his position at Sunderland after guiding the Black Cats to promotion from League One last season.

Neil’s side are currently 17th in the Championship table at this early stage, having taken 12 points from their opening 11 matches.

The Potters suffered a convincing 4-0 defeat against Watford in their last outing after goals from Ismaila Sarr, Ken Sema, Keinan Davis and Vakoun Bayo.

Head-to-head

Burnley have faced Stoke 110 times in their history, with a record of 39 wins, 25 draws and 46 defeats.

The points were shared when the sides last met back in April 2018, with Ashley Barnes cancelling out Badou Ndiaye’s opener.

Barnes was also on target in a 1-0 victory at Turf Moor several months prior, firing home at the death as the Clarets briefly climb to fourth in the Premier League table.
