Millwall assistant manager Adam Barrett says his side “gifted” Rovers a goal in their 2-1 defeat at Ewood Park.

Tyrhys Dolan and Ben Brereton were both on target as Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men recorded a sixth league victory of the campaign.

Jake Cooper pulled one back for the visitors with 15 minutes to go but Rovers held on to secure all three points.

Barrett felt the Lions did enough to leave East Lancashire with a point but says his side need to cut out errors.

He told South London Press: “We had the better of the chances in the first half but didn’t quite take them. The really hard thing to take is it is another error away from home which has gifted them the goal.

“That is what it was, a gift, and that’s something we’ve got to cut out because there’s been too many away from home.

“Then you’re on an uphill task – it makes life difficult, but we got ourselves back in the game with Jake’s goal.

“We had good opportunities at the end to nick a draw. But we have to stop coming from one or two goals behind.”

He added: “It’s a very difficult league. We’ve got to make sure we have a reaction on Wednesday [against Rotherham], and we’re expecting a reaction out of the boys, but it’s that little moment of concentration.

“You just can’t lapse for one moment, or you’ll get punished. Unfortunately, at the moment, any little lapse that we are having, teams are punishing us.”

The result sees Rovers climb to sixth in the Championship table – five points behind second-placed Norwich City at this early stage.

Tomasson’s men are back in action on Tuesday night when they make the long trip to Cardiff City (KO 8pm).
