SOUTH African Francois du Plessis scored a half-century on his Lancashire debut.
Signed under the Kolpak ruling, du Plessis had to wait for his first start after day one of the three-day against Durham was washed out.
But he finally got a chance to show his new team-mates his skills as he stroked 55, Lancashire's second highest score of the day.
Paul Horton made 121 before he retired hurt as the visitors declared on 254 for six.
In reply, Durham UCCE put just 82 on the board with six wickets down, Kyle Hogg taking three for 17, and Jimmy Anderson chipping in with a wicket.
