Frail batting saw Chorley slump to defeat by 45 runs against Leyland at Fox Lane in their opening Northern League fixture.
A fine all-round performance from Andrew Makinson set up Leyland's 15-points victory. Makinson top-scored with 33 in the home side's total of 136-7 from their 50 overs and then captured 3-28, including the wicket of Chorley sub pro Alcindo Holder for a duck.
Holder had taken 2 -30 and Kieran McCullagh 2-28 in the Leyland innings and McCullagh, batting at No.9, was also Chorley's leading run-maker in a very disappointing reply of 91 all out in 38.4 overs.
