ROSSENDALE-born Kristan Bromley yesterday celebrated his second Bob Skeleton World Cup series title after adding the 2007/08 series to the one he won four years ago.
The 35-year-old from Waterfoot finished just sixth in the final race of the World Cup series in Winterberg, Germany.
American Zach Lund was the only slider capable of catching Bromley in the series, but needing a top-spot podium finish, he ended up ninth to secure Bromley gold.
Bromley had started the day badly, making a poor start in the first of his two runs to place him 12th at the halfway mark of today's competition.
But he produced the fourth fastest second run to soar up the rankings and ensure he collected the overall title.
"It was fantastic to win," said a delighted Bromley. "The last run was really tough, especially with the problems in the first one, but I knew I had to hold it all together.
"The season started slowly for me before Christmas, but I managed to gain momentum when we returned to the European circuits and produced a fantastic end to the season."
Bromley adds the World Cup series title to the European Championships title he won in St Moritz two weeks ago - a repeat of the double he achieved in the 2003/4 season.
He scored one gold and three silvers from eight races.
