Burnley are reportedly “leading the race” to sign Rotherham United midfielder Ben Wiles this summer.

The Clarets have already made MK Dons starlet Scott Twine their first signing of the summer on a four-year deal.

And new boss Vincent Kompany is now looking at 23-year-old Wiles, according to a report by LancsLive.

The midfielder scored 10 goals in 52 appearances last season as the Millers won promotion from League One.

He has made more than 150 appearances for the Yorkshire club since making his professional debut back in 2017.

With Ashley Westwood out of action due to injury, Burnley would benefit from another midfield option alongside Jack Cork and Josh Brownhill.

Adam Phillips has also been training with the first-team following a loan spell at Morecambe last season.

Burnley are also reportedly closing in on defensive pair Luke McNally and CJ Egan-Riley from Oxford and Manchester City respectively.

The Clarets are currently light in numbers in defence following the departures of Ben Mee and James Tarkowski among others.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis has also been linked with a loan move to Turf Moor, having played under Kompany at Anderlecht during the first half of last season.
