Burnley have reportedly joined the race for highly-rated MK Dons youngster Scott Twine.

Twine was named League One Player of the Season after managing 20 goals and 13 assists as Liam Manning’s side narrowly missed out on automatic promotion.

The Clarets are making a “shock £4million bid” for the attacking midfielder, according to a Patreon report by Alan Nixon.

However, the Turf Moor club face competition from Hull City and another unnamed club for his signature.

Twine is currently regarded as one of the best talents outside of the top-flight and at 22 years of age, he is only going to keep improving.

The attacking midfielder came through the ranks at Swindon and also had a spell on loan at Newport before heading to Stadium MK last summer.

He made 50 appearances in total, scoring four goals in a dominant win against Plymouth on the final day.

Burnley have also been linked with Millwall winger Jed Wallace and Swansea defender Joel Latibeaudiere among others as new boss Vincent Kompany aims to put his stamp on the squad.

The Clarets are currently light in numbers after announcing that Ben Mee, James Tarkowski, Erik Pieters, Aaron Lennon, Dale Stephens and Phil Bardsley will all be leaving this summer.

The likes of Wout Weghorst, Maxwel Cornet, Nick Pope and Nathan Collins have also been linked with moves away from Turf Moor.

However, Jack Cork has committed his future to the club, putting pen to paper over a new two-year contract.
