BURNLEY defender James Tarkowski is having a medical ahead of a proposed move to Everton, according to reports.

The 29-year-old is out of contract this summer and looks set to leave Turf Moor following the Clarets’ relegation from the Premier League.

Tarkowski is expected to sign a four-year deal at Goodison Park, according to The Athletic.

Newcastle and West Ham have also been linked with the defender in recent weeks as he enters the final stages of his current deal.

He joined the Clarets from Brentford back in 2016 and has gone on to make over 200 appearances for the Turf Moor club.

Tarkowski has also been capped twice by England during his time in the North West, having made his international debut in a 1-1 draw with Italy four years ago.

Meanwhile, Burnley have also taken up an option to extend Ashley Barnes’ contract by a further 12 months, according to The Burnley Express.

The forward joined the Clarets from Brighton in 2014, twice winning promotion from the Championship and also representing the club in the Europa League.

Barnes made 25 appearances for the Clarets last season, with his only goal coming from the penalty spot against Aston Villa.

However, Jack Cork, Erik Pieters, Aaron Lennon and Dale Stephens are all reportedly expected to leave Turf Moor this summer.

Phil Bardlsey has also been linked with a move to Derby to reunite with former Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney.
