BURNLEY BEST Centre Table Tennis Club are celebrating their most successful season on record after two title triumphs.
The club, established in 2012 on the back of the London Olympics, now have four teams competing in the East Lancashire Table Tennis League alongside outfits from Rossendale, Hyndburn, Pendle, Ramsbottom and Ribble Valley.
And the club have produced some epic results this season, scooping both the Division One and Division Two titles.
BEST Centre Raptors won the Division One title by remaining unbeaten throughout the season and even made it to the Fred Holden Handicap Cup final, before a narrow defeat.
They also took home the league Doubles title too.
Led by captain Rich Tokeley, the team of Gary Firth, Ryan Fallon and Jordan Moore were worthy champions and will be the club;s first side to compete in the Premier Division next season.
Jordan Moore also scooped the runner-up in the Individual Merits with a 80.49 per cent win ratio on games played.
In Division Two, BEST Centre Phantoms were again unbeaten all season, winning the league and Doubles title.
Captain Rob Tokeley and his team of Dave Worral and Darren Wright have gained promotion to Division One for 2022/23, while Wright also scooped the Individual Merits title with a whopping 92.31 per cent win ratio.
BEST Centre Jets finished a respectable fourth in Division One and the club’s debut team, BEST Centre Tornados, finished in third place.
Debutant Lee Salad was also a runner-up in the league’s annual tournament plate competition.
Chairman Rob Tokeley said: “This season has been the club’s most successful, and all the players have really improved and enjoyed playing in a brilliant league after all the restrictions of the pandemic.
“It will be the club’s first time in the Premier Division, so we are really looking forward to the challenge that brings.”
