Fulham have entered the race to sign Joe Rothwell on a free transfer.
Rothwell turned down the offer of a new contract at Rovers to find a new club, which had expected to be Bournemouth.
The Cherries pushed hard to sign the 27-year-old midfielder in January, seeing several bids rejected, and they were the frontrunners to sign him following his departure from Rovers.
However, with no deal yet agreed, other clubs have circled, with Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion all being linked with a free transfer move.
Though Fulham are a new name in the frame, linked with a move for Rothwell who is eager to try his luck in the Premier League after four years, and over 150 appearances, during his time at Ewood Park.
Fulham won the Championship to secure an immediate return to the Premier League, beating Bournemouth to the title.
With Nottingham Forest in this weekend’s play-off final, Rothwell could have all three promoted sides chasing his signature, with boss Steve Cooper a known admirer.
Fulham have lost attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho to Liverpool, and will be looking to refresh their squad as they bid to make an impact in the Premier League.
