ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman is delighted with his deadline-day swoop of former Liverpool midfielder David Mannix.

The 22-year-old joined yesterday from Norweigan outfit HamKam, returning for a second spell after making one Stanley appearance last season on loan from Anfield.

He goes straight into Stanley's squad for tomorrow's home clash with Wycombe, along with teenager Aswad Thomas, who made a loan switch from Charlton on Tuesday.

"David's a very good player and I'm sure we will see the benefits of him having played an injury-free season in Norway," said Coleman.

"In League Two, I think he will be a very, very good footballer.

"He did particularly well in Norway, but this is a serious chance for him to springboard his career back in England.

"I'm confident that David is better than what we've already got and, hopefully, he can be a good signing for us.

"Going on the reports we've had on Aswad, he will do the same. If he can have the same impact Godwin Antwi had last season, it will be smiles all round."

Former player Jamie Speare has also returned as Stanley's new goalkeeping coach and will work alognside Kenny Arthur, Ian Dunbavin and Martin Fearon.

Meanwhile, young winger Billy Dennehy has returned to Sunderland after completing his loan spell, while David Brown moved to Rushden and Diamonds.
